Biogeografic region: Andean. Elevation range: 1600–3600 m a.s.l. Native to Colombia. Colombian departments: Antioquia, Arauca, Bogotá DC, Boyacá, Caldas, Cauca, Cundinamarca, Huila, Magdalena, Meta, Nariño, Putumayo, Quindío, Risaralda, Santander, Tolima, Valle del Cauca.
