Annual or perennial glandular herbs, usually aromatic; leaves opposite, usually linear and often with stiff marginal hairs (cilia) below the middle

Disc-florets perfect and fertile, tubular with enlarged, regular or irregular, 5-lobed limb; anthers obtuse at the base; style-arms short and obtuse
