Almost throughout Europe; Turkey, Lebanon, Caucasia, Iran, Pakistan, C Asia  (Tian Shan), E & W Siberia, Macaronesia (Canary Is., Madeira), N Africa (Libya to Morocco). Introduced in the Azores, Australasia, tropical Africa, N America, W Indies and probably elsewhere.
