Biogeografic region: Andean, Caribbean. Elevation range: 0–1800 m a.s.l. Naturalised in Colombia. Colombian departments: Antioquia, Caldas, Caquetá, Casanare, Cauca, Chocó, Cundinamarca, Huila, Magdalena, Meta, Nariño, Norte de Santander, Putumayo, Quindío, San Andrés y Providencia, Santander, Tolima, Valle del Cauca.
