Biogeografic region: Andean. Elevation range: 1000–3600 m a.s.l. Native to Colombia. Colombian departments: Antioquia, Bogotá DC, Cauca, Chocó, Cundinamarca, Huila, La Guajira, Magdalena, Meta, Nariño, Putumayo, Quindío, Risaralda, Santander, Tolima, Valle del Cauca.
